Adaba Ìyá: Holistic Prenatal & Postnatal Support Rooted in Tradition and Spirit

Adaba Ìyá is a sacred calling, not just a service. Meaning “Mother Dove” in Yoruba, Adaba Ìyá symbolizes peace, guidance, and nurturing wisdom. Just as the dove gently watches over her young, so too does the Adaba Ìyá hold space for expecting mothers with calm presence and ancestral care. This role sits beautifully between that of a traditional Doula and a Midwife, blending both deep spiritual awareness and practical, holistic support.

As an Iyanifa Olorisha of Ọ̀ṣun, I walk with the wisdom of the Orisa and the sacred teachings of Ifá. Ọ̀ṣun, the Orisha of sweetness, fertility, love, and rivers, guides me in this sacred work—bringing beauty, joy, and deep nourishment to the journey of motherhood. My offerings are infused with the love of our ancestors and the strength of African and African-American birthing traditions. They are spiritual, empowering, and rooted in divine feminine energy.

What I Offer as Your Adaba Ìyá

I provide care that supports your entire being—body, mind, and spirit—through your prenatal and postpartum journey. With over ten years in birth work and over five years of dedicated midwifery study and extensive advanced training, I offer services beyond the scope of a doula while complementing, not replacing, your medical care. 

Some of these services include:

• Listening to fetal heart tones for spiritual reassurance and connection

• Supported guidance to feel where your baby is laying within the womb

• Guidance and observation of self-directed blood pressure monitoring and urinalysis

• Cervical check only upon your request and if deemed reasonable. 

• Deep spiritual and emotional support 

• Holistic wellness planning 

• IBCLC support postpartum

These visits are intentionally unrushed. We take time to explore your questions, concerns, desires, and the emotional and spiritual layers of your pregnancy. Whether you’re preparing for a hospital or birthing center delivery, this sacred support allows you to experience the intimacy of home-centered care alongside your clinical provider’s services.

Important Notes

This work is meant to complement the care you receive from your primary birth provider—not replace it. Though I do fully support those who make the decision to make this their primary method of support, if they intend to freebirth. After all, it's your birth right. However, I DO NOT deliver babies. If you are choosing to freebirth, you are responsible for the safety of the delivery. My role is to call 9-1-1 in an emergency, and nothing more. 

​​You may choose to use basic level Doula services, but my pricing will not be decreased.

This offering is for those seeking a deeper connection to self, spirit, and tradition during the transformative journey of pregnancy. If you are yearning for care that sees all of you—your body, your baby, your ancestors, your future—this sacred space is for you.

You may add on additional services such as placenta preparation, more postpartum visits, and/or newborn care at a rate of 20% off. 

All prenatal visits take place in my office in Waterbury, unless you pay the convenience fee for my travel. Convenience fees vary based on location.
