For the Culture

I became an IBCLC primarily because I was struggling to get ahead with midwifery. I realized I had already met half the requirements necessary to sit for the IBCLE, and I decided to go for it. With less than 5% of IBCLCs identifying as Black, I knew that becoming an IBCLC myself would mean that I could help open doors for other Black aspiring IBCLCs by becoming a mentor someday.

Now that I have surpassed the 12-months in practice requirement, I'm ready to open my doors, heart, and mind to a small number of aspiring IBCLCs via pathway 3.

Because IBCLC work is not my primary area of work, students must be willing and able to source their own clients to serve under my supervision. I will provide clients as I am able to. Bringing in your own clients can help you to still earn income while recieving mentorship, and keep your loss/expense to a minimum. Students are encouraged to have more than one mentor, to help meet their clinical hours and learn different things. I am also not generally interested in accepting students who are in need of a primary mentor at this time. However, I am willing to make some considerations depending on the circumstances.

Mentorship is available in Waterbury, CT and virtually anywhere you are, using HIPAA compliant video systems.

Mentorship is $1,200 for 12 months and can be paid in quarterly installments. Pay in full and take $200 off. If additional clinical hours are needed beyond 12 months, or if a student needs me as a primary mentor, additional fees will apply. To be determined.

Pathway 3 must be approved by the IBCLE first. After our consultation, if we agree to move forward, you will need to submit your documents and get them approved before paying your mentorship fee.

Fill out the initial application, prior to booking your consultation.

A consultation is required in order to be considered. I want to know a little about you. It's important that we both vibe and that I only take on students who are truly ready. Students who decide to move forward with mentorship after the consultation, will have the consultation fee waived from the cost of the mentorship.
